Fresh AIR Apps

Twhirl, well this is the AIR app that just got purchased by Seesmic.

Basically it’s a desktop Twitter on steroids. Includes posting images to TwitPic, cross posting to your Pownce or Jaiku accounts and you can search your tweets using tweetScan or Terraminds.

Once you have entered your login details for Twitter you then get a separate window showing your tweets for that account. The more accounts you add the more windows open up. You also get 9 different view types from the drop down menu, including timeline, your own tweets and tweets from just those you are following.

After a while though the ‘ping’ noise of receiving a new tweet will drive you a bit mad so you will end up turning it off!

Design eye

It’s nice, and you get to choose one of many built in themes to suit your taste. The UI is well laid out with small but functional icons to guide your usage.

Technical eye

Twhirl is built using Adobe Flex and handles the themes via specific XML files that change the apps colours dynamically. No need for any extra theme assets and file size, I like this approach.
