Klok - Personal time tracking made easy
April 09th 2008 | by James
Klok is a tool intended to be used by individuals, like myself, who have a need to track the time they spend on projects, tasks or anything else for that matter.
Created by Rob McKeown as a way of tracking his time across a number of projects of consulting projects, it was entered into the Adobe AIR Developers Derby contest back in 2007.
The application is fully featured with custom chrome that also features a minimized version when you are timing your activity on a project. Killer features include drag and drop timesheet data to your desktop as a Microsoft Excel file and comprehensive charts and reports. On the week view screen you get a calendar view where you can interact with the times your worked on projects. See the developers site for more details.
Design eye
Nice looking application that makes full use of a custom theme and chromeless window design. Iconography is well suited to the overall design and usability together with fonts that can easily be read onscreen. Grey on black font colouring can be a little hard to read sometimes.
Technical eye
The site looks like it is built using the Flex framework. The week view datagrid looks great thanks to the skin and it might have had some extra features added. The update feature has been utilised in this app.

This looks great, James. Thanks! Any chance of integration with Basecamp or Freshbooks?

This app is just a lifesaver, I really loved it! I had to peak at the developers site to get the hang of it, but 2 minutes later I was ready to track my time! I just love this tool!
