AIRTube - YouTube video downloader
April 18th 2008 | by James
Lee Brimlow of GoToAndLearn has built an AIR app that was shown in London for the OnAIR tour.
This has to be the simplest AIR app I have seen to date. Basically it allows yuo to download videos from YouTube by cutting and pasting (or dragging and dropping) the YouTube URL into the app.
After you have given it a YouTube URL the video will download to your desktop and the app will expand to show you a preview. That’s it. Personally I don’t really ave a major need to download a copy from YouTube but others might.
Lee has now made the source code for this AIR aplication available to download here.
Design eye
Simple but nice looking app, chromeless with a simple close button. Nice.
Technical eye
As mentioned previously, the source code is available for this and Lee says that it is just a Flash CS3 application, no Flex in sight. Good example simplistic use of Flash for an AIR app without any frills.
